Preview | Aston Villa Ladies v Bees

London Bees head to the Midlands tomorrow to face Aston Villa for a 7:30pm kick off.

We caught up with Nicola Gibson ahead of the match.

"Villa have picked up some good points recently so we will go there expecting a tough game, we know we’ve got to be prepared to put another big shift in if we want the rewards.

"We trained hard this week, looked to see how Villa play and how we can exploit their weaknesses.

"Hopefully we will be ready come Saturday for a big performance away from home."

"The result against Sheffield is massive for us. It’s not a secret that we’ve had a tough start to the season but we can’t feel sorry for ourselves in this league.

"We know we have the quality so it was about putting the work in, sticking together and finishing our chances. A couple goals and a clean sheet gives us a really good foundation to build upon and hopefully kick-start our season."

Nicola Gibson also mentioned the boost the squad has had since the arrival of Rachel Unitt.

"Rach’s experience playing at the highest level throughout her career is a massive boost for Bees and so evident when she’s on the ball.

"The composure from her and Becks at centre half in recent weeks has really allowed us to play out of the back with confidence and purpose."

Manager Luke Swindlehurst is also ready for the test Villa will provide.

"I'm looking forward to getting back out for another match, there has been a real buzz in training this week and we are showing all the signs that we will take that into the match tomorrow.

"Keeping a clean sheet was very pleasing last week and that will be very important tomorrow to be strong in defence as we will always create changes to score goals.

"I'm looking for another step forward in performance levels and we will give everything again to get a positive result."
