Focus is the key as Bees progress pleases Will

Merrick Will looks back at the Leicester win and recent performances.

Merrick Will has been ever-present this season, playing in a variety of positions, we caught up with the Bees number 23 to see how she has enjoyed how recent good run of form.

Another win and through to the FA Cup 5th Round, how pleasing was the result?

It was a very professional performance from us, I felt we were solid at the back and took our chances when we needed to and it ended up being a comfortable win for us.

Two clean sheets in as many weeks, that must be a good feeling having played at the back?

I’m really happy for the team and how well we’ve done recently. I’ve had to help the team out and do a job at the back in recent weeks, I would hope this has contributed to recent successes. I’m mostly really pleased for Julie (Sarah Quantrill) and for her making team of the week. She’s deserved nothing less with her performances recently.

The confidence and team spirit has really grown and momentum is building with each week, how do you maintain the run and what most important for the coming weeks?

I think maintaining focus and staying on track with our recent good form will be the most important area for us to look at. We’ve got some tough games coming up but we’ve prepared really well and the girls are up for a battle no matter who we play.

What are your expectations for the Fifth Round tie away to Manchester United?

Getting drawn to Man Utd, we see as another test against quality opposition. We’ve played them twice already this season so we know what to expect from them as a full-time outfit and if we prepare as well as we know we can, they can expect us to give them a difficult game. I know we’re all really up for it.

How far is the team capable of progressing or is it a case of one game at a time?

We take each game as it comes, each opponent differs from the last so how we have to approach it differently each time. The team has experience playing in a semi-final against top tier teams so we know it’s possible to go far and I’m just excited to play the next round and see how far we get.
