Seven players join the Bees!

David Edmondson brings seven new faces to The Hive.

London Bees are delighted to announce the signing of seven new players, ahead of tomorrow’s opening WSL2 match against Watford Ladies.

New manager David Edmondson has gone about reshaping the Bees squad, following his arrival at The Hive in January 2016.

Left back Sophie Fogarty, midfielder Zemeka Clarke and striker Jo Wilson have all joined from Queens Park Rangers.

Edmondson described the trio, saying:

“Sophie is an athletic and technically gifted full back who could be a really important signing for us.

“Zemeka has joined from QPR as well – she’s a busy midfielder with a real desire to learn and improve.

“Then there is Jo Wilson; she should add pace and finishing ability to our attack. She’s previously played in the WSL with Watford, and will work hard leading the line for us this season.”

Merick Will has arrived from Millwall Lionesses -she will be looking to stake a claim for a central midfield berth in the Bees’ new look line-up.

Evdokia Popadinova and Nikki Watts played with Edmondson while he was in charge of Bristol Academy, and the coach is excited at the prospect of linking up with them again at The Hive:

“Evdokia is a Bulgarian international with pace and directness,” he said.

“Hopefully she’ll cause defenders nightmares this season!”

“Nikki Watts left Bristol to join Reading midway through the 2015 campaign.

“She is a talented footballer with WSL1 and UEFA Women’s Champions League experience.

“Nikki is a clever attacking midfielder, who will hopefully make the players around her better!”

The Bees final addition is Emma Beckett. However the club are still waiting on International Clearance for the midfielder, who recently enjoyed a spell playing in Norway.

Everyone at the London Bees would like to welcome all seven new players to the club!
